Teaching & Evaluation Methods

Anatomy/Physiology, Kinesiology & Pathology – This course educates the student on the structure and function of the human body; the mechanics of muscular movement, and the causes of illness and dysfunction. All body systems are studied with a strong emphasis on the musculoskeletal system.
Hydrotherapy – The student learns the philosophies and methods of hot and cold application, for muscular stress and strain relief.
Swedish Massage – Swedish massage therapy is the most prevalent form of massage. It integrates the use of oils or creams and is identified by its long, relaxing strokes and kneading movements. All techniques needed to provide professional Swedish massage therapy, are instructed at the Academy’s massage school NJ. This is exceptional training for any professional massage therapist or masseur.
Reflexology – Through the combined use of stroking and finger pressure, the student becomes skilled at calming the body and mind, and stimulating both the organ and endocrine systems. This form of massage therapy utilizes reflex points on the feet.
Shiatsu – Shiatsu is the Japanese art of applying deep pressure to the musculature, using fingers, hands, forearms, elbows, knees, and feet, in order to stimulate and stabilize the body’s muscles and energy pathways. Our Academy teaches the table-top method; a very unique offering at our NJ massage school.
Medical Massage – Medical massage combines the best of Sports Massage, Myofascial Release, and Neuromuscular Therapy. Develop the skills to assess musculoskeletal dysfunctions, myofascial restrictions, and postural deviations that can cause chronic pain and misalignments; treat the musculature with deep tissue therapy and massage, and rehabilitate the muscles using range of motion, passive stretching, and strengthening techniques. Our medical massage instruction provides the essentials to become an accomplished massage therapist.
Ethics & Business Practices – Our students graduate the Academy’s massage school with a distinct understanding of the ethical practice of massage therapy. The business aspects of massage are instructed, and the student is equipped with business forms, a liability insurance application, professional organization contacts, massage tools and supplies, and other resources to help build a thriving massage therapy practice. Dr. Auriemma also provides students with unlimited field supervision, offering support with all aspects of professional practice building and massage therapy treatment protocols; something other massage schools in NJ lack.
Teaching & Evaluation Methods – Students are supplied with one text book, as well as individual course materials. Written and hands-on tests are used to gauge the student’s mastery of theory and practical application. At our NJ massage school, we go to great lengths to guide the student toward success.
