The online, home-study aromatherapy program is imparted in eleven sections and is designed to offer students the professional knowledge required to make appropriate aromatherapy suggestions and assessments. As in all our online, home-study courses, students communicate with instructors via email. Students are sent testing materials, (eleven sections), to finalize and return for grading by our expert team of aromatherapy program educators.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS, TUITION, BOOKS & ENROLLMENT

Section #1: Human Anatomy & Physiology

Note: Students with health degrees in related fields such as massage therapy, nursing, medicine, etc., may be exempt from the A&P requirement.
All ten systems of the human body are affected by the use of essential oils. This comprehensive course explores the many ways that essential oils impact these specialized systems. Specific topics include:
The unique impacts of essential oils on the Endocrine System, Cardiovascular System, Digestive System, Reproductive System, Musculoskeletal System, Integumentary System, Nervous System, Respiratory System, Immune and Lymphatic System, and Urinary System.
Anatomy & Physiology course assignments are interspersed throughout Sections 2-6, allowing the student to complete this requirement in increments.

Section #2: Aromatherapy Principles

Aromatherapy Principles trains students in the key foundations of effective essential oil usage. Topics include:
History of Aromatherapy, Essential Oil Chemistry, Oils, and Botanical Families, Essential Oil Extraction Techniques, Oil Purities and Adulteration, Biophysical Actions of Essential Oils, Safety and Cautionary Guidelines, Olfactory, Respiratory and Integumentary Actions, Proper Essential Oil Blending Methods, and Essential Oil Health & Beauty Applications.

Section #3: Healthy Lifestyle & Nutrition

Proper nutrition is a crucial factor for nourishing the ten systems of the body effectively, ensuring optimum benefits from essential oil application. The Academy’s Aromatherapist online, home-study course instructs the Clinical Aromatherapist® to establish the basis of a successful nutrition and lifestyle program and directs students in how to ideally provide clients with an easy to understand, do-it-yourself, “Wellness Charts Booklet” guiding them on their journey toward a better quality of life.

Section #4: Medical Applications of Aromatherapy

The Academy’s extensive online, home-study Clinical Aromatherapist course examines the scientific principles of aromatherapy. Students are trained in the phytochemical constituents of oils, as well as their unique healing properties and medicinal uses for common health ailments, including:
Toxicity and Safety, Women’s Health Issues, Antiseptic Actions, Chemotypes, Anti-virals and Anti-bacterials, Anti-Inflammatories, Essential Oil Analysis Methods, Auto-Immune Issues, Nervous System Health, Respiratory System Health, Urinary System Health, Digestive System Health, Essential Oil Medicinal Application, and Individual Oil Phytochemistry Components.

Section #5: Essential Oil Formulations

Our online, home-study Clinical Aromatherapist program provides students with an encyclopedic catalog of over 600 essential oil formulations for a variety of different applications. This course offers students a truly invaluable reference text and a simple, yet engaging way to learn about the numerous practical uses of essential oils. Below, are just a few selected topics that this course covers:
Animal Care, Perfumes and Fragrances, Skin, Hair and Nails, Injuries, Stress, Fatigue, Insomnia, Babies and Children, Gardening and Pest Control, Female Health Conditions, Male Health Conditions, and Culinary Use of Essential Oils.

Section #6: Aromatherapy for Beauty, Hair & Skin Care

This Aromatherapist online, home study course focuses on the natural benefits to beauty, hair, and skin care that essential oils can offer. Some of the key topics students will be exploring include:
Creating Your Own Natural Cosmetics, Purchasing Guide to Ready-Made Natural Cosmetics, Cleansing, Toning and Facial Techniques, Essential Oils and Specific Skin Types, Treatment of Fine Lines and Wrinkles, Skin Disease and Irritation Treatments, Massage Oil Recipes, Aromatic Bath Recipes, Skin Care Recipe Formulation and Procedures, Essential Oils and Specific Hair Types, Scalp Condition Treatment Methods, Hair Care Recipe Formulation, Individualized Natural Perfume Creation, and Natural Perfume Formulation Methods.

Section #7: Aromatherapy for Emotional and Mental Balance

Essential oils can provide countless benefits to a person’s psychological and spiritual health. These aspects and the connection between fragrance and mood, are illustrated in our detailed Aromatherapist online, home-study course. Students will learn about safe, effective individual oils, as well as blending combinations for a multitude of purposes including:
Proper Application Methods, Blending Techniques for Balance, Restoring Mental and Physical Balance, Memory and Concentration, Anxiety and Apprehension, Nervous Tension and Agitation, Over Thinking and Worry, Indecision and Empowerment, Anger and Frustration, Confidence and Self-Esteem, Depression and Negativity, Problems Relating, Aromatherapy Massage Techniques, and Yin and Yang Philosophical Concepts.

Section #8: Client Recommendations & Assessments

In this course, students are instructed to utilize aromatherapy client assessment questionnaires, as well as how to use information supplied by clients to successfully and thoroughly, assess a client’s essential oil needs. This is the first step toward successfully recommending the appropriate corresponding aromatherapy oils or, formulas to best meet a client’s individual needs.

Section #9: Aromatherapy Ethics& Jurisprudence

The Academy’s integral Aromatherapist online, home study course provides a guideline for what an Aromatherapist may and may not do. Students are trained in the legal practice of their craft, and how to avoid practicing medicine. Additionally, pupils are supplied with consent forms, along with real-life suggestions for the legal and ethical practice of aromatherapy.

Section #10: Aromatherapy Practicum

Students are required to conduct ten aromatherapy consultations with family and friends; they are to conduct one session at a time and submit them individually for instructor evaluation. The student will then be provided with constructive feedback, as well as assistance to modify their interviewing skills. Upon completion of this practicum, students will gain the competence and confidence necessary to evaluate even the most difficult cases.

Section #11: Practice Building Strategies

This final section offers valuable strategies and suggestions to help students successfully establish their own aromatherapy consultation practices. Specific concentrations in our Aromatherapy course include:
Legal Issues, Ethical Issues, Strategic Office Location Selection, Effective Record-Keeping, Liability Insurance, Practice Management, Successful Networking Strategies, Marketing Methods, Referrals, Internet Business Strategies, Fiscal Issues, Fee Structure, Personal Development, and Problem Solving.
Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be awarded the Academy’s 300-Hour, Clinical Aromatherapist®(CL.A.®) Diploma.
